Eat Healthy This Holiday Season

As you spread holiday cheer, will your mid-section be spreading as well? Follow these healthy eating tips:

  • Think about foods that are healthy before you go to a party. For instance, pumpkin pie has beta-carotene, which is a cancer fighter.
  • Load two-thirds of your plate with fruits and vegetables.
  • Limit yourself by choosing a moderate-sized piece of cake or pie.
  • Eat small meals before a party, which will make you less likely to overeat later on.
  • Choose figs, dates, nuts and dried fruit. Dried fruit is rich in phytochemicals, which help fight heart disease and certain cancers.
  • Add pecans, walnuts, peanuts and almonds to casseroles and salads.
